More than 249,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with invasive breast cancer every year, and nearly 41,000 die from the disease.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is an annual campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer risks, the value of screening and early detection, and treatment options available to women and men who are diagnosed with one of the many forms of breast cancer.

Chances are you have a friend or family member who’s faced breast cancer. After all, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with the disease at some point during their lives, according to the American Cancer Society. Let’s all do our part to help find a cure!

You would not go to a general surgeon to have open heart surgery although they trained in such during their residency. So why would you take the chance when it comes to cancer? There are many sub-specialty fields in radiology including Mammography. Subspecialists in radiology will likely see and therefore diagnose patients in a more specific way through the use of imaging. Premier’s radiologists are hard at work making sure patients have the best chance at life by providing the best sub-specialty reads in the business.
